Teaching

I taught at the App Academy (a four-year computer science pathway at Pasadena High School) for five years. It was one of the most fun, challenging, invigorating experiences I’ve ever had. I got to totally reshape the existing curriculum and create something centered around creativity, problem-solving, and inclusivity.

You can read more about the four-year curriculum I taught here.

Mobile Apps / Low Code

When my school prepared for a return to the classroom after Covid, I whipped up a Covid symptoms check-in app.

I also created a variety of assignments and sample apps for students using low and no code mobile app IDEs!

Full Stack Apps using Node.js and Socket.io

Students used HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to first create interactive web pages, then added in Node.js and Socket.io to create full stack apps and games.

p5.js

p5.js is a phenomenal creative coding library that makes a wonderful introduction to coding for students!

Misc other teaching coding projects / assignments

I loved the challenge of coming up with fresh, fun, engaging projects and assignments for students to work on!

Some amazing student work!

I’m always impressed and delighted by the fun and creative work my students have produced.
